Saturday on top for Michele Beretta, on his seasonal debut in VLN: on the fearsome old Nurburgring circuit, the italian driver shone at the wheel of Phoenix Racing’s Audi R8 LMS GT3, in a 6-hour race full of pitfalls between variable weather and lots of traffic on a track with 153 cars at the start.
Michele, who shared the car with Nicolay Møller Madsen and Steve Jans, managed very well his driving stints in the central and final part of the race, scoring the best lap of the crew. Under the checkered flag, the red Audi of Beretta-Møller Madsen-Jans passed in eighth place overall in the same lap of the winners, also gaining success in the Pro-Am class by distancing the GetSpeed Motorsport team’s direct Mercedes AMG GT3 this appointment.
Michele Beretta: “It was a good weekend, I’m really happy with what I did here at the Nurburgring. First time on Audi, first time here on a GT3 car, first time with Phoenix Racing in a race weekend: it has turned all right, I really enjoyed it, we have won a clear victory in the Pro-Am class and a Top 10 in a championship high level, where there are many profound riders who know this difficult circuit. A result that gives me the charge for the upcoming events.”
Hot summer for Beretta: after Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps and Nurburgring, he will return next weekend behind Grasser Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo wheel for a new appointment of ADAC GT Masters. He will share the itaian supercr with Marco Mapelli looking for another good result in Zandvoort after the preparation test and race completed there few weeks ago.
