Michele’s Italian GT Endurance Championship begins with a pole position and second place. On the Pergusa circuit, the Lamborghini Huracàn driven by Michele and his teammates was the absolute protagonist and the victory escaped them only in the last laps of the race, due to an unfortunate problem.
Since the testing session Michele and his teammates, showed that they are one of the team candidate for the victory of the race, confirming to be among the candidates for success in the GT Endurance tricolour.
In the qualifying on Saturday Michele signed a high level performance, with the second absolute time. In the remaining qualifying laps, Yuki Nemoto and Edoardo Liberati were protagonists as well, being able to place the #19 Lamborghini in the first position of the grid for the race.

In the two-hour race, which took place on Sunday, Michele took the wheel just before half-way and found himself fighting directly with his teammate, Benjamin Hites. After following the other Huracàn of the VSR closely, Michele launched a decisive attack, at the entrance of the starting straight, after having perfectly set up the last variant, the Zagaria. At the lead of the race, Michele increased his advantage, handing over the steering wheel of the Huracàn to the Japanese Nemoto for the last driving session. Unfortunately, a tire pressure problem slowed the #19 Lamborghini, forcing it to surrender in direct fight with the other Vincenzo Sospiri Racing’s Lamborghini.
The Italian GT Endurance Championship opens with an excellent second place for Michele, who leaves the Sicilian racetrack, not without regret, for a well-deserved result that fizzled out in the last meters of the race.
“I make no secret of being disappointed. We had a good weekend and due to a sudden problem, we missed a victory that we had nearby. Yuki (Nemoto) was very good, but he couldn’t do anything to defend himself. A result like this, in a championship that has only four races, does not allow to recover, also because our main rivals will be our team mates. Anyway, I am happy for the team, Vincenzo (Sospiri), he did a great job and he deserves this double win. “
After the Italian race, it is already time for Mike to look forward to the next race weekend. From 20 to 22 May Michele will be again at the wheel of Lamborghini, in the GT World Challege America race in the United States, on the Ozark Raceway Park in Missouri.
