After the one got fifteen days ago in Imola, another important success for Michele Beretta (and his teammate Alex Frassineti) came today in Vallelunga during the sixth round of 2017 Italian GT Championship. In front of a huge crowd who filled the roman circuit, the Ombra Racing duo crowned the weekend with the third seasonal win in Race 2, with a good performance of the white-red-blue Lamborghini Huracan GT3 supported by a bit of luck, due to the DNF of Malucellis Ferrari, which open the way to the first place at Beretta-Frassineti, while they were second just behind the Prancing Horse supercar. In Race 1, however, the fight for the win has been thought since the start; after the pit-stop, the Safety Car erased all the gap gained by Frassineti and then Beretta was forced to try an hard attack for the leadership but it did not succeed because of the strenuous defense at the limit of the regulation from the Black Bull Ferrari 488, a moment that cost several position to Ombra Racing suo who end the race only in fifth place.
Michele Beretta: “The weekend in Vallelunga was good and the team did a great job again. Let’s not forget that during friday’s free practice Alex had a huge crash and the mechanics, working all night long, managed to retake on track our Lamborghini for saturday’s qualifying, allowing us to get a great pole position. Im quite disappointed for Race 1: I was clearly faster than Black Bulls Ferrari, but its move costs us important points. At the end of the day we have brought home another important win and points that will allow us to arrive at Mugello with an unchanged gap from the leader. We will have to do our best to recover both the 15 seconds of handicap time and for the performance gap highlighted last july. In any case we will fight until the last meter and we will attack from start to finish.“
