Monza remains dark for Michele Beretta: the young driver from Lecco, once again, failed to shine on the home circuit in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, which on the “Temple of Speed” last weekend has played the first of the six events of 2018 calendar. Beretta, together with his teammates Kodric and Mitchell, after the excellent performances shown in free practice and qualifying, had to raise the white flag just 20 min after the start for a problem with the engine loom. At the green flag, Beretta got three positions during the first lap, engaging a good fight with Pohler’s Audi R8, which touched the italian (without consequences) at the exit of Prima Variante. At the 20th minute of the race, however, the unexpected, with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 forced to pit and Beretta to get off the car prematurely for a sudden loss of power from its V10 engine, which forced the Barwell Motorsport team to withdraw the car from the race.
Michele Beretta: “What a shame. For sure it was not the result we aim before the weekend. Unfortunately, a problem with the engine loom leave me with only half engine power. It’s really a pity to have to retire after only 20 minutes of race, especially knowing that we have a competitive car that could allow us to take home an important result. I’m sorry for the many friends, supporters and fans who came to Monza to support me in the only race that I will run this year in Italy and thank them for their support. For the Blancpain GT Series, next round is at Silverstone where we expect to be competitive. I will be busy again this week in Most for the second round of the ADAC GT Masters: with Team Rosberg we completed one test day some weeks ago and we are confident for a step forward compared to what we saw at Oschersleben, we want to bring the Huracan GT3 in the first half of the grid.”
Closed the Monza chapter, for Michele Beretta it is already time to focus on the second round of the German GT Championship: at Most the engines will be turned on Friday, April 27th with the two free practice sessions (11am and 4.35pm); Saturday morning space at the Qualification 1 (09.15) while Race 1 will start at 13:15. Sunday at 9 the Q2, which will follow Race 2, scheduled at 13:08. Both will be visible in streaming on www.adac-gt-masters.de
