It was a perfect weekend in Sebring, with pole position and two clear victories, achieved on a challenging and iconic track. With this double victory Mike brings to seven the number of seasonal victories and second position in the overall standings of the GT World Challenge America.
Race 1 was apparently simple for the Beretta–Caldarelli duo. The K-PAX Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan #1 started from pole position and led the entire race, leaving no space for the rivals.
Race 2 brought some more emotions, the Huracan #1 started from third position with Caldarelli. Michele’s team-mate led an excellent first stint of the race, giving the car to Michele in second position.
In the pit phases, Michele returned to the track as a leader and led his part of the race, setting record laps that allowed him to take the second victory of the weekend with an advantage over the Conquest Racing’s Ferrari 488 GT3, which arrived second.
“Two linear races, we won with apparent ease. Everything went in the best way since the test session and we didn’t anything wrong. I have to congratulate the Lamborghini staff who did a great job at Sant’Agata after the setbacks we had in the two previous races. Many congratulations also go to the team, the K-PAX Racing, who did everything in the best way, without making a mistake.”
With the double from Sebring, Michele climbs to seven victories in the current season, with six wins obtained in the GT World Challenge America and one in the Italian GT Endurance Championship. The victory on the Florida track and the victory of second place in the overall standings must be quickly set aside, because Mike will be back on track on next Friday. The final race of the GT World Challenge Endurance Europe is scheduled for next weekend on the Catalan track at Barcelona.
