After four seasons as a Lamborghini Junior Driver, the 2020 marks an important turning point in Michele Beretta’s career, with the switchover not only to different brand, but also to a new championship with cars technically different. The italian driver will be one of the protagonists of GTE class in the 2020 European Le Mans Series on Dempsey-Proton Racing’s Porsche 911 RSR. Still to be unveiled the name of his team mates but they will be expert and quick drivers in order to compose a strong line-up that can be fight for the win in every race. Michele will join the team for the first time during the Goodyear tyre test session at Le Castellet in the first days of March. After that, the ELMS will attend the official pre-season testing in Montmelò (Barcelona) on March 30-31, just few days before the kick-off of the season with the first race, scheduled in the same racetrack the weekend after (April 4-5).
The championship calendar will count six rounds on the most fascinating European circuits, five of which are in the F1 World Championship schedule. Michele, during the recent Bathurst 12H in Australia, proved to be able to adapt himself quickly to many new situations, such as the car, the track and the team.
“I’m looking forward to get the track”. Michele says few days before the test. “I will have to learn everything as fast as possible and without making mistakes. I’m very curious to learn the Porsche 911 RSR, about which I’ve heard speaking very well and it seems to be the most competitive car in the GTE. Besides that, I will have a new high quality team, with team mates that will allow me to set my sights on important results. I won’t waste time during the tests, optimizing every moment to learn as much informations as possible. The Dempsey-Proton Racing team is one of the best and I will have at my side expert and fast mates; a set of factors that let me have winning expectation. I know all the tracks where we will race, while I will have to pay close attention to the coexistence of different category in the same race, such as LMP2 e P3. The only experience I have of races like this is the 24H of Daytona, where we drive with cars of different category and I learnt how important is to manage the traffic in the best way.”
